Did you know that chicks use a special tooth to break out of the egg?

A chick typically stays in the egg for about three weeks. Once the chick has grown too large for the egg, it will have to try and break free. It does this by using its egg tooth. Spot the delicate sharp edge at the end of its beak and you’ll have found the egg tooth. The chick uses it to peck away at the shell repeatedly until it is possible for the chick to push the top of the egg off and make its way to freedom. After a few days, the egg tooth either gets reabsorbed or simply falls off by itself.
